This may be a simple “God help me” when you come home and find your dog has protected you from the attack of the pillows and feathers are everywhere to a profound invocation for support with “Oh God!” as you watch something horrific, like the crumbling of the World Trade Center or the touchdown of a
tornado.
Invocation is the act of appealing to a higher power for assistance. It must be vocalized - or spoken aloud - in order to summon or conjure the desired result. Thinking about it is different from speaking about it. Thinking about it is, however, precisely where the real magic begins.
