Practical Magic Astrology: Meet Venus

Venus, the Roman god of Love, Beauty, and Money, was known to the Greeks as Aphrodite. Older than the Olympian gods of Zeus’s generation, Venus simply stepped out of the Mediterranean Sea one day, fully formed. When the Saturn castrated his father Uranus, the bloody genitalia was flung into the sea, causing foam to gather and float across the sea to the island of Cyprus. One day there, Venus simply stood and walked out of the sea, surrounded by the foam. She was a fully grown young woman – the daughter of Heaven and Earth; Uranus and Gaia.

This chain of events, Uranus having consumed all his Titan children except the last, Saturn’s growth to manhood, and his mother’s request for the castration of his father, puts the appearance of Venus closer to the Age of the Titans, than the time of the Olympians.
