Potions

Humans have long recognized that different liquids can benefit well-being. Chicken soup helps colds and flu. Tea helps soothe emotions. Wine and spirits can induce alternate realities. Some liquids though are poisonous, while others simply have no effect at all. This, like all things traded for money, must be remembered whenever purchasing anything. That whole caveat emptor - “Let the buyer beware” - thing is good advice for everyone. No one will cover your best interests like you will for yourself. Just like any pill or medical treatment, this includes potions.

After the quacks and charlatans that came through Europe during the plague, pharmacies or apothecaries evolved to provide a more accessible option for healing potions than doctors. Potions distributed by chemists for illnesses were often derived from herbs and plants, and based on old beliefs and remedies. Since this practice was unregulated, potions were made from natural herbs and minerals, but with no guarantee of results.
