Excerpt:
Dowsing the use of tools to find information which is not available to the senses. The process of dowsing is known by many names, including divining, questing, doodle bugging, and water witching.
Anyone who believes they can dowse, can dowse. The skill is easily taught and there are no age limits. Children often show a natural talent for dowsing because they don’t doubt themselves.
There is nothing actually magical about dowsing, but, because we don’t know how it works, it seems to work like magic. The dowsing magic is not in the tool, any more than the words to a new novel are in a pen. It is the person which connects the tool to the answer to the question, using their brain. This is why faith is required. If you doubt your own ability, you disempower yourself.
